My Story: I found my passion by accident.....I was invited into the delivery room for the birth of my nephew and it was fascinating! Not long after it was followed by the birth of a niece and another nephew and I was running out of pregnant relatives. I wondered, is there a job doing this?...and the answer was YES....as a Doula. I had never heard of a Doula before so I did some research and the timing was not quite right so I tucked it away for hopefully another day. Life took several twists and turns and one day I came across a local Community College flyer in the mail and inside was a listing for Doula and Childbirth Educator training. I was newly remarried, working full time with 4 kids and the timing was again definitely not optimal. But I signed up anyway! I spent the next 2 years going through both programs, student teaching, taking exams, working with expecting families and finding a place in the local birthing community. Following certification I taught classes at the hospital for several years which was a great learning experience. We are blessed to have many great people, programs and birthing options in our area. Hospital teaching however left me wanting more fun and flexibility not just for myself but for the families I serve. Birth-Day Prep was born to provide customizable programs that are made to engage and inform so that every family has the opportunity to have the best birth-day celebration possible!
At Birth-Day Prep Childbirth Education is about so much more than how to move and breathe...
